A contract with Richardson Devine Marine Constructions is a contract for the finest design, technology and engineering Australia has to offer.

Richardson Devine Marine was formed in 1989 and has been continually operating from the Hobart waterfront producing aluminium passenger and cruise/charter vessels. The directors have extensive experience in marine construction and recreational activities. They have a “hands-on” approach to closely monitor the construction of each vessel. They are assisted by the vastly experienced and talented workforce who are dedicated to produce quality workmanship in both construction and fitout.

RDM are experts in their field, constructing high performance aluminium passenger catamarans. The vessels are tailored to individual requirements with the company’s design team working in conjunction with naval architects to produce designs specifically to meet individual needs. The team has conducted exhaustive tank tests at the Australian maritime College for their low wash ferry hulls. The vessels can range in size to forty metres.

Richardson Devine Marine are capable of developing a product from infancy stages to the final outcome of constructing a vessel that exceeds client expectations without excess in time or money. RDM are able to achieve such goals by virtue of,

• The boatyard has certified welders capable of passing classification society standards.
• Electric and electronic equipment is installed by technicians with experience at international boatyards. These technicians have installed equipment to comply with a number of classification societies and codes.
• Interior fitout personnel are highly skilled craftsmen. Each vessel so far constructed has a customised interior finish to individual client requirements after consultation with the directors.
• RDM regularly consult with their client. This action has forged strong client connections enabling all major milestones to be achieved on time.

A testament to RDM’s stature in the industry is the level of repeat client contact for either new vessels or modifications. Because of the broad client base and areas of operation RDM has constructed vessels to operate in varying sea states, having to comply with strict environmental controls and cope with exposed waters.

RDM is a member of the Tasmanian Maritime Network. All members are involved in the marine industry with backgrounds in construction, training and supplies. Some of the other members are world leaders in such fields as fire suppression, hydraulic and fuel connection as well as general machining of marine components.
